So, I’ve had my Apple computer for about 6 years now. It is a G4, and while 6 years is a nice long life for any computer in my opinion, I have reached a point where if I don’t either add some more hard drive space, or purchase an external hard drive, it’s going to blow up! I seriously have less than a gig of space left, so it’s reaching a critical point. I really can’t erase anything else, so, I need to come to some kind of decision this week. I feel like I am constantly needing to upgrade a piece of my computer or camera equipment, and it’s getting really old, really fast!
Luckily, after browsing Buy.com’s Weekly Deals, I found a great external hard drive for a good price. It’s the Western Digital Elements 500GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive, and it is currently on sale for only $45.00! Since there really isn’t anything else wrong with my mac, I think that this will be a great solution for me. While I would love to just buy a brand new iMac, it’s just really not in the budget for me right now.
I wish I would have known about Buy.com’s Weekly Deals page much sooner, because I would have waited a while before buying my laptop. They really have some amazing values on electronics, so check it out if you are looking for an upgrade too.

The problem with that external drive is it won’t work well with the usb ports on your G4. The G4 has usb 1.0, much too slow for an external hard drive. I seriously recommend that you get a firewire hard drive. USB 2.0 hard drives are ok for PC’s and the newer macs, but firewire is still better, even for them.

What I find amazing is that only a few years (ahem) ago me and my friends were amazed and delighted at getting an extra 512k memory for our Amiga 500’s. Now, 1gb is low. Frightening how fast technology is moving!

I’ve had a G4 but it belong’d to the school I was going to. It was nice, but I think I prefer my PC laptop to a Mac.
