Geocaching

Friday, May 2, 2008

I think that I’ve blogged about this before, but I really need to get a gps tracking device so that Zach and I can give geocaching a run. I know a few people who are involved in it locally and they say that it is a really fun activity and we need something different to do.

Do you own a grandfather clock?

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Thinking back, I have really only seen a grandfather clock in someone’s home once or twice in my life. Why is that? I believe it’s because while grandfather clocks are so beautiful and classic, they are also really expensive! I mean, let’s face it, it’s not as if you can walk into your local Wal-Mart and buy a beautiful grandfather clock, is it? So, while they are a considerable investment, just think about all of the wonderful things about grandfather clocks. First off, they evoke such a nostalgic emotion from almost everyone. I think it’s because most of us associated beautiful grandfather clocks with our grandparents. Apparently the older generations had a much finer appreciation for beautiful pieces of furniture like grandfather clocks, and I hope that I can continue this kind of tradition in my home for my future children, and even grandchildren. So, while buying a grandfather clock is a serious investment, it’s also a great investment which will only grow in both sentimental and financial value over the years. It’s a piece of furniture that isn’t going to fall apart or lose it’s charm over the years. Also, what’s great is that you don’t necessarily need to find an antique grandfather clock to add to your home. Brand new grandfather clocks are available for sale at 1-800-4clocks.com in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. There is really a grandfather clock to meet the tastes and needs of just about anyone. Check it out!

Spring

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

There is really nothing prettier than the pink blossoms of spring against a blue sky. I just don’t think I really appreciated how beautiful spring colors are until a few years ago. I remember being on campus at Ohio University in spring 2004, and noting in my mind that it was the most beautiful spring that I had ever seen. I’m not sure if it was just a pretty spring, or if I was having a moment of clarity, but I can remember vividly how green and bright everything seemed. Hopefully now it will just start warming up again!

Drying out

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

You know, they say that flooding can be the most devastating kind of natural disaster, both in terms of financial and material destruction. I’ve witnessed some of this destruction in what I would say is minor flooding in my area over the past several years. Regardless, there is always so much cleanup involved that it probably seems overwhelming for those involved. In fact, I’ve seen so many sad stories on the news just this week as people in neighboring states are dealing with cleanup after some severe storms and tornadoes. Sort of by chance, while surfing the internet (as usual) I happened upon a really interesting web site with some good information about some do it yourself water damage restoration, targeted for those people struggling to pick up the pieces after a flood has damaged their home. The site details a lot of useful information including tips on the kinds of supplies you will need, as well as methods for speeding the drying process in your home. I’m certainly thankful that flooding is not something that we are dealing with here at this time, but it’s good to know that there are guides out there to help, just in case.

Love is where you find it

(Click the picture to view auction) This painting is now for sale on eBay. This is different from what I am used to doing, and actually looks a lot like drawings that I used to do as a child. This is the first in a series, so if you like it, snatch it up. :)
